Maturing Neurodivergent: An Intimate Evening of Conversation and Storytelling
Skibbereen, Co. Cork – NeuroHive CLG, in collaboration with 49 North Street, is proud to present Maturing Neurodivergent: An Intimate Evening of Conversation and Storytelling from the Perspective of Neurodivergent Adults. This unique event will take place on Wednesday, October 29th, 7:00–9:00 PM at 49 North Street, Skibbereen, as part of the West Cork Feel Good Festival.
The evening will feature Ian Lawton, founder and CEO of NeuroHive CLG, sharing his talk The Invisible Elephant, a poignant exploration of navigating life post-diagnosis. Ian also plans to premiere a new talk he has been working on.
Joining him is Kayren Hayes, an autistic academic and poet who facilitates the Women’s 50+ Peer Support Group for AsIAm, Ireland’s Autism Charity.
Unlike traditional events, this gathering will eschew formal speeches in favour of a fireside chat atmosphere. Attendees can expect dim lighting and a quiet, informal setting designed with sensory sensitivities in mind. Participation and conversation is encouraged but never required, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all.
This event is an opportunity for neurodivergent adults, their families, friends, and allies to deepen their understanding of neurodivergence. It also highlights an important message for parents of neurodivergent children: children are not broken, they grow into neurodivergent adults who continue to need acceptance, support, and understanding.
Maturing Neurodivergent also marks the launch of a new monthly peer support group for late-diagnosed autistic and otherwise neurodivergent adults, to be held at 49 North Street on Wednesday evenings. Visit www.weareneurohive.com/hearth for more information.
